James Rickards is an investment banker and investment adviser based in New York, and the author of the best-selling book, Currency Wars: The Making of the Next Global Crisis. Mr. Rickards has held senior positions at Citibank, Long-Term Capital Management and Caxton Associates. In 1998, he was the principal negotiator of the rescue of LTCM sponsored by the Federal Reserve. His clients include institutional investors and government directorates. He is an adviser on capital markets to the Director of National Intelligence and the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Juan Luis Surgeon, CFA
Mr. Juan Luis Surgeon brings institutional portfolio management experience to the fund’s Advisory Team from serving as Head of Treasury and Asset Management for one of Panama’s largest private banks, MMG Bank, where he is responsible for the management and oversight of over US$800 Million in assets, as well as the bank’s foreign exchange business. He currently leads the bank’s Asset Liability Committee and is a member of the MMG Fixed Income Fund investment committee. Prior to MMG, Mr. Surgeon was a liquidity, fixed income and foreign exchange trader at Multibank. Mr. Surgeon holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Smeal College of Business from The Pennsylvania State University and is a CFA Charterholder, as well as a licensed securities broker and principal executive in the Republic of Panama.
Simon has spent over ten years as a market research analyst concentrating on economics, precious metals, energy and resources markets. His research and analysis has focused primarily on the market fundamentals of supply and demand, and more recently specialized in commodity and resource fundamentals. Simon is a Principal Director on numerous private companies and has written and lectured on the precious metals and resources markets for many years.Simon handles logistics oversight for AFE Custodial Company, and ensures consistent controls of gold purchase, fabrication, transport, bailment, and liquidation procedures.
